About Sacred Heart Church, Hubertstown
Sacred Heart Church, Hubertstown was built in 1837. It has a cruciform plan with a four-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
This Roman Catholic church follows a Gothic Revival decorative scheme and features a gable-fronted cruciform plan with an extension to the east elevation. The exterior includes corner buttresses, a render plinth course, and gable-fronted porches on the west side, while pointed arch openings contain limestone and timber tracery. The interior holds a carved marble altar and a west timber gallery with pointed arch panels, and the site is set back from the road behind rendered piers, cast-iron gates and railings.
