About Rathkeale Holy Trinity
Rathkeale Holy Trinity was built in 1831. It has a four-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, crenellated parapets and pinnacles.
History
Possibly designed by the Pain brothers, this Board of First Fruits Church of Ireland church is the third to be built on this site. It stands on a raised location adjacent to a graveyard containing carved stone markers. The site is enclosed by a rendered boundary wall with cast-iron railings and approached by cut limestone steps leading to a gate flanked by square-profile piers.
