About Our Lady & St Patrick, Puckane
Our Lady & St Patrick, Puckane dates from 1859. It has a T-shaped plan and rendered walls under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and a marble altar.
The building
Located at the south end of Puckaun, this freestanding gable-fronted church features a snecked limestone front gable with skew vertical joints and a stone plinth. Diagonal buttresses with pinnacles mark all corners, while rendered walls elsewhere include buttresses to the nave. Pointed-arch openings have chamfered limestone surrounds with hood-mouldings. A modern two-bay single-storey lean-to sacristy is attached to the northwest elevation.
