About St. Mary Of The Rosary, Nenagh

St. Mary Of The Rosary, Nenagh was built in 1896. It has a cruciform plan under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a five-stage tower with a spire, stained glass including a rose window, buttressed walls and lancet windows. It was designed by Walter Doolin.

History

The foundation stone for a new Catholic church in Nenagh was laid on Sunday 2 October 1892. A dedication Mass for St Mary of the Rosary was held four years later, on Sunday 23 August 1896.

The church was built to the design of the ecclesiastical architect Walter Doolin, in the style of thirteenth-century English Gothic.
