About Our Lady of the Assumption Church
Our Lady of the Assumption Church dates from 1837. It has a five-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
Refurbished in 1953-4, the church features a gable-fronted design with a five-bay nave and a gabled single-bay sacristy to the north. The interior contains a vestibule divided into three chambers by segmental-headed arches, leading to a timber staircase and gallery. Notable elements include an A-frame open truss roof, marble altar furniture, a carved limestone baptismal font, and stained-glass windows donated by local parishioners.
