About Newcastle Lyons St Finian
Newcastle Lyons St Finian was built around 1775. It has a single-cell plan with a four-bay nave, built of rubble stone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include window tracery.
The building
The church incorporates the west tower and chancel of a fifteenth-century structure. The nave features paired cusp-headed windows with quatrefoils and a large pointed-arched window with flowing tracery in the east gable. The adjacent graveyard has been in use since medieval times and contains a medieval cross alongside legible gravestones dating from the late 1760s.
