About Rathcoole
Rathcoole was built around 1740. It has a single-cell plan with a two-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and lancet windows.
The building
This Church of Ireland church features a timber tongue and groove door with a quatrefoil opening and flanking lancets. The interior contains a plain barrel-vaulted ceiling, timber pews, a pulpit, and a polychrome tiled floor. A memorial plaque dated 1764 commemorates the son of the Earl of Meath, while the surrounding graveyard includes the Kennedy Family tomb.
