About Killashee St Paul
Killashee St Paul was built between 1835 and 1840 in the Gothic Revival style. The church is built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a two-stage tower, crenellated parapets, pinnacles and buttressed walls.
History
The church was rebuilt c. 1837-40, probably by architect James Welland, with a grant of £1211 from the Ecclesiastical Commissioners. It replaced an earlier structure of uncertain date. The site likely hosted a previous church, indicated by early grave markers, the earliest legible dated 1710, and a smaller hall-type church shown on the 1838 Ordnance Survey map.
