About Immaculate Conception
Immaculate Conception was built around 1820. The church has rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, crenellated parapets and pinnacles.
The building
The cruciform-plan church features a three-stage stone tower with ashlar crenellations and pinnacles, apparently added c. 1880. Extensions include a flat-roofed sacristy and an east transept addition. The site is bounded by rendered walls and wrought-iron gates bearing the foundry stamp 'CRAWFORD DUNDALK 1843', which lead to a tree-lined avenue towards the graveyard.
