About Grange Sylvae St George (Goresbridge)
Grange Sylvae St George (Goresbridge) was built in 1811. It has a simple single-cell form under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and crenellated parapets.
The building
This Board of First Fruits Church of Ireland church features unpainted roughcast walls with cut-granite dressings, including quoins and stringcourses. The three-stage entrance tower displays a pointed-arch frieze leading to an inscribed battlemented parapet with corner pinnacles. The site includes landscaped grounds with a random rubble stone boundary wall and a graveyard containing various cut-stone markers dating from post-1811 to the present.
