About Assumption, Gowran
Assumption, Gowran was built between 1875 and 1885. It has a four-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
The west entrance is reached by four cut-granite steps and framed by a cut-granite block-and-start surround with chamfered, rebated reveals. A hood moulding on monolithic label stops crowns the pointed arch, which contains timber-boarded double doors.
