About Finner Christ Church (Bundoran)
Finner Christ Church (Bundoran) dates from 1839. It has a five-bay nave, built of squared sandstone under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and buttressed walls.
History
Designed by architect William Hagerty, the church was originally built by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners at a cost of £2,150. Its construction is probably a reflection of Bundoran's popularity as a genteel seaside resort. Figurative stained glass windows in the chancel gable are attributed to the firm Heaton, Butler & Bayne of London and were donated by the Ellis family in 1908.
