About Church of St Joseph – The Rock, Ballyshannon
Church of St Joseph – The Rock, Ballyshannon was built around 1835. The church has rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower with a spire, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and crenellated parapets. The tower was added in 1886.
History
Reverend James McDonnell built the original hall church, which opened on 18 September 1835. Thomas Francis McNamara carried out further extensive work in 1909, with Messrs Clarence of Ballysodare acting as the main contractor.
