About Church of Our Lady Star of the Sea, Bundoran
Church of Our Lady Star of the Sea, Bundoran was built between 1858 and 1859. It has a cruciform plan with a four-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower with a spire, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and a marble altar. It was designed by Thomas Francis McNamara.
History
The church was built by the Gilroy Brothers for Very Rev. Francis Canon Keelaghan and was opened and dedicated on 15 August 1859. It replaced an earlier T-plan Catholic chapel situated to the north-west.
