About Dublin St Catherine & St James
Dublin St Catherine & St James was built in 1896. It has a four-bay nave, built of brick under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage bell tower, stained-glass windows, window tracery and buttressed walls. It was designed by Robert John Stirling.
History
Originally built in 1896 as a Chapel-of-Ease for the parish of Saint Catherine's, Thomas Street, the church was extended in 1906 and dedicated to Saint Victor. It was later re-dedicated as the Church of Saint Catherine and Saint James following the deconsecration of the original Saint Catherine's and Saint James churches. Interior furnishings, including the reading desk and pulpit from Saint James' Church and a brass altar rail from Saint Luke's in the Coombe, were transferred from these closed parishes.
