About Drogheda St Peter
Drogheda St Peter was built in 1748. The church is built of ashlar limestone under a hipped slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and pinnacles.
The building
Designed by Hugh Darley, the church features a Palladian exterior with a tower and spire added c. 1780 by Francis Johnston. The interior contains Rococo plasterwork, box pews from c. 1865, and an organ built by John Snetzler in 1791. A medieval octagonal font and a stained-glass window dated 1873 are also present.
