About Corraneary Presbyterian Church
Corraneary Presbyterian Church was built in 1791. It has a simple single-cell form and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and lancet windows.
History
The church succeeded an earlier meeting house built in 1763 by a few individuals and thatched by James Blair of Tonyhull. The current structure was reroofed in 1848, replacing the original black oak shingles installed by carpenter William Snowden. It represents an integral component of the late eighteenth-century ecclesiastical heritage of Co. Cavan.
