About Cloughjordan St Kieran
Cloughjordan St Kieran was built in 1837. It has a cruciform plan, built of limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower with a spire, stained-glass windows, pinnacles and buttressed walls.
The building
Designed by J. and G.R. Pain, this Church of Ireland building contrasts with typical Board of Fruits style churches of the era. It features an ashlar limestone tower with chamfered corners, diagonal buttresses, and an octagonal spire containing a clock. The structure includes pointed-arch openings with carved hood-mouldings, braced A-framed timber trusses, and stained-glass windows to the west, south, and east elevations.
