About Church of the Holy Family - Ardara
Church of the Holy Family - Ardara was built around 1900. It has a six-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and a marble altar. It was designed by Edward Toye.
History
The present church replaced a T-plan church that had been built or extended in 1853; that building in turn replaced or incorporated an earlier hall-type church. The foundation stone for the present church was laid in August 1900 and it officially opened in November 1903.
