About Glenties
Glenties was built around 1855. The church has rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a two-stage tower, crenellated parapets and window tracery.
History
This Church of Ireland chapel of ease was built c. 1855, likely with financial support from the Conyngham family, who were local proprietors. A letter from Francis Nathaniel Conyngham in 1852 concerns the site conveyance. The shallow chancel is probably a later addition, perhaps added c. 1890. Alterations were carried out in 1911 to designs by Francis Gerald Townsend, which possibly included the construction of the vestry.
