About Church of St Mary, Kilsaran
Church of St Mary, Kilsaran dates from 1814. The church has rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, crenellated parapets and pinnacles.
History
The Revd Eugene O'Daly, pastor of the united parish of Kilsaran and Stabanon, laid the first stone of this chapel in honour of the B.V.M. on 18 July 1814. He was appointed to care for the parish by the most Revd Doctor O'Reilly, Primate of Ireland, on 11 January 1791 and died on 15 March 1822. The three-stage belfry entrance tower to the east elevation was added later, dated 1856.
