About Kilsaran St Mary (Castlebellingham)
Kilsaran St Mary (Castlebellingham) was built in 1852. It has a three-bay nave, built of rubble stone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a two-stage tower with an octagonal spire, stained-glass windows, window tracery and buttressed walls. The church stands in its own graveyard.
The building
A lean-to vestry is attached on the north side and a later single-storey red-brick extension adjoins the north gable. The spire carries a weather vane with a salmon motif, and the roof ridge has crested clay tiles.
