About Rossnowlagh St John
Rossnowlagh St John was built around 1830. The church has rendered walls under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and buttressed walls.
History
Lewis recorded that the church was built with a £600 grant from the Board of First Fruits. It was probably conceived as a chapel of ease associated with Kilbarron or Drumhome/Drumholm, and the porch may have been added later, possibly at the start of the twentieth century.
