About Castleterra (Ballyhaise)
Castleterra (Ballyhaise) was built in 1820. It has a four-bay nave, built of limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and pinnacles.
History
The chancel was added c.1890, while internal furnishings may largely date to an 1888 refurbishment. The south transept served as a parlour pew for the Humphreys family, who succeeded the Newburghs at Ballyhaise House. This arrangement may deliberately echo the earlier Killeshandra Church, which features similar round-headed windows and a private pew over a burial vault.
