About Ballintra Methodist Church

Ballintra Methodist Church was built around 1896. The church has rendered walls under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows and a bellcote.

History

Designed by Sligo architect William Fawcett Gilchrist, the church replaced an earlier Methodist chapel from c. 1860 located to the north-west. That predecessor had itself succeeded a building existing in 1837. A Methodist manse formerly stood adjacent to the south but is now demolished.
