About Ballintemple St Mary (Dundrum)
Ballintemple St Mary (Dundrum) was built between 1860 and 1861. It has a four-bay nave, built of squared sandstone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage bell tower, stained-glass windows, window tracery and buttressed walls.
History
The church was probably built by renowned architects Welland and Gillespie. It may have been constructed during a period of village improvements under the patronage of the Maude family of Dundrum House. The site character has remained largely unaltered since the mid-nineteenth century.
