About Church Of St. John The Baptist, Clonoulty
Church Of St. John The Baptist, Clonoulty dates from 1878. It has a cruciform plan with an eight-bay nave, built of ashlar limestone under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include a bell tower with a spire, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and mosaic work.
History
The building occupies the site of an earlier church and may incorporate some of its fabric. An external cast-iron staircase on the north elevation gives direct access to the gallery, while a later flat-roofed sacristy extension occupies the south-west.
