About Whitechurch
Whitechurch was built in 1827. It has a seven-bay nave, built of granite under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include buttressed walls and lancet windows.
The building
Whitechurch is a detached gable-fronted church built in 1827 with additions in 1868 and 1968, comprising a seven-bay nave, a gabled apse to the east, a gabled vestry to the south added in 1868, and an incorporated tower with a needle spire to the west. Typical of John Semple's First Fruits designs, the building has coursed granite walls with string courses, ashlar buttresses, and chamfered granite surrounds to tall lancet windows. The interior features transverse pointed arches, timber pews, panelling, and many carved marble military memorials.
