About Tullamore St Catherine (Kilbride)
Tullamore St Catherine (Kilbride) was completed in 1818. It has a cruciform plan, built of limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and crenellated parapets. It was designed by Francis Johnston.
The building
Begun in 1808 and completed in 1818, this Church of Ireland church stands on Hop Hill with random coursed limestone walls, buttresses, side aisles, and a three-storey west entrance tower. The interior contains rib vaulting, flat panelling to the ceiling, pointed-arched arcading, and an organ to the rear. A triple-light sandstone window marks the east elevation, and a monument commemorates the Earl of Charleville.
