Kilcommick St George (Kenagh) dates from 1832 and is built in the Gothic Revival style. It has a three-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage bell tower, pinnacles, window tracery and buttressed walls.
History
Designed by architect William Farrell, this Church of Ireland church was built in 1832 under the patronage of Jane, Dowager Countess of Rosse. The construction cost is recorded as £2000, though Irish Parliamentary Returns of 1837 list the figure at £2500. A plaque bearing the initials 'A.G. Cowen' may indicate the main contractor involved in its erection.
