About St Mary’s Church, Killenummery
St Mary’s Church, Killenummery was built in 1859. It has a simple single-cell form, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a tower, window tracery and buttressed walls.
The building
The main pointed-arch doorway has a timber sheet door set in a tooled-limestone chamfered surround with a hood moulding, with further pointed doorways beside it. Cast-iron vehicular and pedestrian gates at the front of the site are flanked by ashlar gate piers, and the church occupies an elevated rural site.
