About St Kevin, Carrigeen
St Kevin, Carrigeen was built in 1893. It has a simple single-cell form and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and an open timber roof.
The building
The church incorporates fabric from an earlier chapel dating to before 1840. It features a projecting west porch and a freestanding belfry dated 1932, which comprises an iron pylon frame with a cast-iron bell. The site includes a graveyard with cut-stone markers ranging from pre-1840 to the present.
