About Kilmeaden St Mary
Kilmeaden St Mary was built around 1775. The church has rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower and buttressed walls.
The building
This Church of Ireland structure, built c.1775 with Board of First Fruits funding, was extensively reconstructed in 1973. The interior features carved timber pews and decorative plasterwork, alongside fittings salvaged from Saint Olaf’s Church in Waterford. The site includes a graveyard with cut-stone markers and mausolea dating from c.1700 to c.1950, and a limestone gateway erected in 1973.
