About St. Joseph’s Church, Coomhola
St. Joseph’s Church, Coomhola was built in 1806. It has a T-shaped plan with a three-bay nave, built of rubble limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows and a bellcote.
The building
The timber sash windows to the nave and transepts are round-headed and use eight-over-eight glazing. This classically influenced window form is identified as a survival from church design before Gothic Revival forms became widespread.
