About St. Ita's Church, Ashford
St. Ita's Church, Ashford dates from 1835. It has a four-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and window tracery.
History
Four years after the church was built, its roof was blown off during the 'night of the big wind' on 6 January 1839. The interior includes a carved marble altar and pulpit beneath a painting of the Crucifixion.
