About St. Finbarr’s Church, Toames
St. Finbarr’s Church, Toames was built around 1820. It has a single-cell plan with a three-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
Inside, an ornate carved-timber reredos is set in a pointed rendered alcove, with engaged carved-timber columns supporting an arch with a drop-ball finial. The site is enclosed by roughcast-rendered boundary walls with square-profile piers, steel railings and gates.
