About St Columba’s, Kilmacrennan
St Columba’s, Kilmacrennan dates from 1903. The church has rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a marble altar and an open timber roof. It was designed by Michael O’Callaghan.
History
The church was opened and consecrated on 4 October 1904. A porch was added in 1943 to designs by Charles Vincent McLaughlin, and the building replaced an earlier hall-type Catholic church recorded as extant in 1837.
