About St Canice’s, Kilkenny
St Canice’s, Kilkenny was built between 1824 and 1827. The church is built of ashlar limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and crenellated parapets.
The building
The open porch contains paired square-headed doorways reached by four cut-limestone steps. Its gabled, panelled and buttressed doorcase has cut-stone surrounds with colonnettes rising into a ribbed half-dome above timber-panelled doors.
