About St. Brigid’s Church, Templebraden
St. Brigid’s Church, Templebraden was built in 1884. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower with a spire, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and buttressed walls. It was designed by Walter Glynn Doolin.
The building
James Newstead of Fermoy built the church for an estimated cost of £3,000. The interior features a timber scissors truss roof and a pointed arch arcade to the transepts supported by marble Doric style columns. Marble reredoses are located on the north elevation, while the site is enclosed by snecked limestone boundary walls.
