St. Brigid’s Church, Boher was built around 1940 in the Hiberno-Romanesque style. The church has a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a bell tower and stained-glass windows. It was designed by Ralph Byrne.

The building

St Brigid’s Church in Boher, Co. Westmeath, was erected c.1940 to designs by Ralph Byrne. The structure comprises a seven-bay nave, a single-bay chancel to the north, and a three-stage belfry attached to the south entrance front. Constructed of channelled ashlar limestone, the church features a pitched natural slate roof with raised limestone verges and cut stone cross finials. The south façade includes a double-height round-headed arch, raised block quoins acting as pilasters, and an open bed pediment. A statue of St Brigit occupies a niche on the tower, which is topped by a copper dome. The interior has an exposed kingpost roof, while the grounds contain a rubble stone grotto with a statue of the Virgin Mary to the north.
