About Shercock
Shercock was built around 1780. It has a hall-and-tower form with a three-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, crenellated parapets, pinnacles and window tracery. The tower was added in 1830.
The building
This Church of Ireland church features a three-bay nave with a shallow chancel apse, an unusual feature in the Kilmore diocese. A vestry was added to the north-east by architect Joseph Welland, and the interior was re-ordered in 1865. The structure sits on an elevated site within a graveyard enclosed by rubble stone walls and ashlar limestone piers.
