About Saint Joseph
Saint Joseph was built in 1883. The church is built of sandstone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a bell tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and a marble altar.
The building
This freestanding gable-fronted Catholic church features dressed yellow sandstone walls with cut limestone plinths, quoins, and chamfered surrounds. The structure includes a polygonal apse, a sacristy to the northeast, and a cut limestone belfry topped with a cross finial. Interior elements comprise an exposed arch-braced king-post truss roof, a timber gallery, and a carved marble reredos.
