About Saint Joseph and Saint Mary, Attymass
Saint Joseph and Saint Mary, Attymass was built between 1955 and 1960. It has a simple single-cell form. Notable features include stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and lancet windows.
History
The 1957 reconstruction was designed by Simon Aloysius Leonard of Suffolk Street, Dublin, and is recorded as allegedly retaining the shell of a chapel erected in 1835–41 with financial support from the Commissioners of Public Works. Earlier fabric includes the Henry Memorial West Window of 1900.
