About Immaculate Heart of Mary
Immaculate Heart of Mary was built between 1905 and 1925. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows and lancet windows.
The building
Designed by Rudolph Maximilian Butler, the church was reconstructed in two stages in 1908 and 1923. It features a cruciform plan with a high pitched slate roof and lancet openings. The interior includes an exposed strutted collared timber roof construction on cut-limestone corbels. Stained glass panels were produced by Walter Michael in 1995, while the memorial East Window dates to before 1943.
