About Saint Brigid
Saint Brigid dates from 1896. The church is built of ashlar granite under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and a marble altar.
The building
Designed by architect W. H. Byrne, the cruciform-plan church features rock-faced ashlar granite walling with limestone plinths and string courses. The structure includes a three-stage tower, a sacristy to the south-east, and a graveyard to the north-west. Entrances are marked by polished granite columns and timber doors with wrought-iron hinges, while the interior contains a timber panelled roof and balcony.
