About Sacred Heart Church - Courtmacsherry
Sacred Heart Church - Courtmacsherry was built in 1887. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave, built of rubble stone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a bell tower, stained glass including a rose window, a marble altar and window tracery.
The building
The western transept opening has a rendered hood moulding. The sacristy has a square-headed doorway beneath a pointed-arch tympanum, with a cast-cement surround, lintel and voussoirs framing a timber-battened door.
