About Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary - Timoleague
Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary - Timoleague dates from 1907. It has a cruciform plan with a four-bay nave, built of limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a four-stage tower, stained glass including a rose window, an internal gallery and mosaic work.
History
Michael Hennessy designed the church in 1880, and construction began in 1907 when Dr Kelly, Bishop of Ross, laid the first stone. The south-west stained-glass window is identified as work of Harry Clarke Studios produced after Harry Clarke’s death.
