About Rushbrooke Christ Church (Cobh)

Rushbrooke Christ Church (Cobh) was built around 1870. It has a cruciform plan, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, window tracery and buttressed walls.

The building

The main pointed-arch doorway has a carved sandstone surround with roll mouldings and Corinthian-style columns beneath a limestone hood moulding, framing trefoil-headed timber-battened double doors. The site boundary has rubble-limestone walls and chamfered cut-limestone piers with cast-iron gates.
