About Our Lady of the Assumption, Grange
Our Lady of the Assumption, Grange was built in 1839. It has a cruciform plan with a two-bay nave, built of stone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and window tracery.
The building
The detached four-bay church features a cruciform plan with double-height nave and transepts, constructed of unpainted roughcast stone with cut-stone quoins. Exterior details include pointed-arch windows with hood mouldings and clay ridge tiles. The interior contains a timber panelled gallery, carved pews, and a Gothic-style reredos. A freestanding belfry, apparently dating to c.1990, houses a cast-iron bell dated 1847.
