About Our Lady of the Assumption, Ballyporeen
Our Lady of the Assumption, Ballyporeen was built around 1870. It has a cruciform plan, built of squared sandstone under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
Notable features
Pointed-arched transept arcades are carried on marble columns with decorative capitals and sculpted heads used as corbels. The interior also has a timber scissors-truss roof, carved timber Stations of the Cross and a marble wall memorial.
